sunshine and mauve

Another color combination pinup that I did for fun. It sat in my pictures folder as a wip for like two weeks because I thought it was terrible and hopeless and then I finally got sick of seeing it and finished it.

It was mostly the pose that threw me, next time I try one of these I'm going to make sure the background is more graphic like the oldschool pinup painters such as my dear Elvgren. They're more stage sets than environments.

What I do like is the gaze in this one, I want to make sure that I keep eye contact in future pinups, it gives the woman more power by making her aware of the viewer's presence, so that they're not a voyeur. She's perfectly fine with the fact that the viewer is there but also knows that she has complete control of what they can and cannot see. I don't think pin-ups need to be objectification.
