Description

I don't know what this thing is, but I only wasted two hours last night working on it. Overall it was pretty fun but I do realize I must commit to a sketch from the start because I waste so much time moving things around and changing things...this dragon was a giant spider thing at first, for instance.

Does anyone else have this problem? I'd be curious to hear your solutions.

Anyways...other thoughts. As far as inspirations go I've been living in the 50's and 60's lately. Looking at Robert McGinnis, Coby Whitmoore, and Gil Elvgren, a lot fashion from those eras and just design and advertising in general. It is sooo rich, an endless mine.
Now you may ask, "but Eric, how did that influence this fantasy piece with so many compositional problems and neglected areas?" To which I would reply, "How good of you to notice and point them out, I do, after all, appreciate a good critique. But regrettably, the sixties did not influence the compositional choices of this piece, that was purely my own folly, however I do love pulp science fiction from the 50's and there's nothing that simultaneous scares my inner child and makes me laugh as those bug eyes with slitted pupils. They give me the jibblies."
